The Moussaka ride report - 12 May 2015 ride

Ride: Petit Salève, starting from le stade du bout du monde
Riders: Balls, BoumBoum, Labrico, Missile, Nameless, Zorba, Limoncello (host)
Ride details: 568m up, 32.6 km, 2h17 on the saddle per my GPS (a bit less for some)

Fantastic weather, dry track.
We left around 18h30 from the bout du monde, riding the Arve's right bank, which is a nice little single, yet offering less chances for checking on jogueuses getting out preparing for summer time.
Quite some time waiting for Zorba who got a flat and then missed the trail going up to Monnetier. BoumBoum and Balls as the rescue team, the later bringing back Zorba.
Pause on the way up, Rescue team 2 (Balls) feeding Missile with whatever energy bar was left from years of MTB, probably forgotten in the camel bag since 26" time.
Went up via the escargot way, Missile being inspired by the video posted by Beaujolais a couple of days ago.  Rescue team 3 with Balls helping carry Missile's bike while our dear ref was firmly holding the handrail, followed by a well deserved 5-min recovery time.
Limoncello's joke of the day: "Zorba (quite stressed as well), if you fall there, we'll have to change your name to Jo Moussaka."
As it was a bit late (and some did not have the lights), we did not make it to the top, and started the downhill. Petit Salève is a great play ground !!!!!!
At the bottom, BoumBoum, Missile and Zorba headed to Limoncello's, making sure they could benefit from the limited supply of Bière du Salève (1664 was the other option), while the rest of the crew headed back to get the cars.
A bit late for Nameless to join for dinner, so he missed the spaghetti - carbonara prepared by Christèle.
Balls volunteered as the DJ, and it was a great evening for all with LOLs.
Of course, respect was of essence and no laughs were heard when the ref sudently stood up with a funny face, suffering from a cramp.
All together, a great evening for all.

7 Bisses Revisited!!!

papy, labrico, nameless and missile
50km
Down: 2,244
Up: 1,175

It all started poorly
....I missed the opp to buy a caprice des dieux for the picnic...and lost time having to stop twice and still didint get my caprice des dieux...
...er three times as I had to buy some maps as GPS back up...
...labrico wasnt quite ready when I picked him up at his GF's place....GF number xx, I let you figure it out..
...but it was apparently not the one with the 'grosse balles' that he had "diddled" the night before!!
...meanwhile....nameless is busy also being (very) late.....(B.A.U.)
...meanwhile (rewind +-1 hour) Old Jo is getting ready and waiting for lisa to drop him off at the rendez-vous
...much later....missile and labrico arrive, nameless still not there....but arrives shortly after...
...papy has the time to have a sammich made for him...was it that good ??
and about 45minutes after the appointed hour we set-off...(we had to wait for labricos dumpathon to be over)

but then it got really REALLY good
4 hours of Crans/Montana/Chermignon/Lens/Sion bisses, ups, fast downs in an increasingly sauna like atmosphere. Awesome!! And we took the bus back to Crans which arrived at EXACTLY 18:06 as the schedule suggested. I love Switzerland !!

Cat MTB weekend - update # 3 - Destination: Zermatt!

It's done! Decided! The doodle is closed, and the Jo's have spoken. This year, the Cat MTB weekend will take place on August 3, 4, and 5 in Zermatt.

This is the result of the doodle:

So we will be 9 people in total. I still hope some of the other Jo's will be able to rearrange their calendars to join us. The next step will be to secure accommodation, so we'll start making calls.

Please block your calendars and order the parts you need NOW so the bikes will be in perfect shape for the ride.

In terms of organization:

Balls: thanks a lot for your offer to help! I'll take you up on your offer in the coming days, to help us make calls to the potential bike-friendly hotels.

BoumBoum: should we find a time to go over your list of hotels over a beer? Do you have some time next weekend?

Dopey: can we count on your help to recommend the trails? Do you already have a place in mind for the Friday DH?

Missile: can you confirm your presence to the Friday DH, and to the rest of the weekend? Your answer on the doodle said you needed to double-check with your vacation plans.

All other Jo's: anybody else want to join for the downhill on friday Aug 3rd?

Papy: will give you a call to discuss Caterpillar-specific issues.

Labrico: you now have about 2 months to find a gonzesse in Zermatt...should be plenty of time for you.

3Decis: are you really not coming?!

Nascar: any suggestions for trails are welcome, the sooner we start the discussions, the better.

Alpine: you won't become a real Jo until you join the Cat MTB weekend...

BeauJoeLais: I'm counting you in for the hotel, we will not let you sleep in your car...mainly because we might need it if Simon has a bad snoring night.

Limoncello: we're still waiting to hear from you!

Husky: anybody out there?  Any chance you will join?

Tanya: should you come to realize that this weekend is (a lot) more fun than a triathlon, we'll be delighted to have you with us! Might even warrant a name...

I hope you're all as excited as I am about this weekend...we're going to ride in a truly spectacular place!

Last but not least, I've heard that the Goat is in Zurich so no excuse not to join us. Zulu, if you want to win the most km. traveled award, you'll need to fly in again this year! Bring Honeybadger with you if you do!

That's all for now, folks. To be continued!

Nameless.
