Ride report: Tues 13 June

OldJo and Balls set off on a beautiful hot summers eve for Ballaison and round trip.

No sooner had we set off then OldJo started complaining about his tired legs, too much SUPing that day. Poor chap!!!

We pushed on (I dragged him up the hill)... and then the fun began!!! ;)))))
Sumptuous tracks on top, traversing the Ballaison hill, then down the far side, past the Balcony (see pics) and onto the Strava single track downhill section. ;)))

Balls knows most of the stones, twists and turns on this section, and he picked up the downhill KOM. Ha!!!!!

Then into the Grand Bois, more single track stuff, bopping and weaving in amongst the trees, and out in the other side for a decent into Hermance.

Before we ate we had time for a swim - big points for both OldJo and Balls!!! See OJ below - more prancing around!!!

Then for a beautiful pizza at Lucania!!!

Oh baby, what a night!!!

Stats:
Distance 39km
Height up 450m
Time 2hrs 20mins
Points:
1 each for OldJo and Balls attending
1 for Balls hosting
1 for OldJo after long day SUPing

Ride stats:
Distance - 30.54km
Height gained - 512m
Time - 2hrs11mins
Avg speed - 14km/h
Calories used - 1,425

Three intrepid riders, Limoncello, Labrico, and Balls, set out from the Bout du Monde stadium parking lot. Limoncello had difficulty extracting himself from a sweet young lady's car after offering to help her reverse her car.... Hhmmm....
Anyway, we eventually got onto our bikes and set off for the Petite Saleve. Hop-along Labrico is recovering from a recent hip operation, so we took it easy on him. ;))) He turned back at the foot of the Saleve, and Limoncello and Balls continued on their merry way.
We didn't conquer the whole hill, light got the better of us! Limoncello is back on the bike - good news. Labrico is on the mend - even better news. Balls is repaired - ha!!!

Limoncello in action on the Saleve. ;)))

Points distribution:

Easy ride Sat?

Guys, this summer you may have difficulties chasing a weasel in the mountains around. I'll have my operation for a broken ACL this Monday May 2nd and don't expect to ride for some months.

This Saturday, the meteo look not to bad the morning, if anyone interested for a small to medium and enjoyable ride let me know. Will be in for the petit Salève or a tour from this mountain at a normal rhythm. Can also move to Jura, but I'm affraid there still lots of snow up there...
One less dog ;-)

Missile leaves his garage to start the ride only to return 30 seconds later for "more air"....missile sets off (apparently) in a hurry to get the ride started....missile legs feeling good, they havent turned on a bike since september 2015!!!....missile takes his friends through the woods near crans....into crans....down the steps....through the stream....etc. etc. all is well until it starts to go 'up'.... ....so we arrive at home...hot showers being planned....but....NOOOO. Theres no hotwater....kids+wife+missile+cleaning lady+mrsjason...= fuckallhotwaterleftforapostmtbshower!!
Labrico decides he'll go anyway...missile thinks 'onestpasdepedes' and also goes for a cold shower....BAD move....shivering like never in his life....fock it was cold....

p'tie arvine/chilean red/pasta/red sauce/chees was consumed....boomboom was a bottomlesspit 'denouveau'!!!

Nothing to do with skiing and nothing to do with motorbiking

Remember in 2008 when I ordered the first 29er in the country? Well, eight years later, I'm a pioneer again. But this time to get rid of problematic components: two derailleurs, chainrings, cassette, chain and, last but not least, the lube. So here we go again:

And I bet that in 2024, the traditional groupsets will be discontinued...
