The Indian Summer Ride... in Blue...Sunday November 15, 2015

The call for a ride was too strong that Sunday to miss the opportunity - Jura was calling our names.
Four fearless riders met in Tranche-Pied, all flagging the new colors - in blue somebody said it was better - of the Dogs & Cats Patrol.

Fearless were the Missile and the Nascar leading us through the ups, along and finally straight down on some of their favorite trails - AWESOME it was !
Surfing the piled leaves - hiding the nasty rocks - we truly had a blast .
In different styles, Balls cruising nicely and efficiently...Old Jo on the survival mode on the uphill, (4 hours in a Jacuzzi at 40 degrees the night before did not help)

Missile has no flaws - he clims, turns swiftly, races down crazily, and is a perfect guide - apart from the "moustache" !!

Nascar in tow and from time to time ahead of all of us in a quick acceleration. For him, every rock or tree has a name...An over power cornering resulted in an elegant slide....followed by a quick as lighting back on saddle..did he fall ??!!
Thanks for the apéro Nascar by the way, it hit the spot. (no lunch that day)

Balls, all smiles and happiness, repeating a million times, "man that's so nice, we are so lucky to ride today, I love it".
Credit to him his bike was free from rattling/squeaking (I washed my bike...he said)

Finally, Old Jo (an oxymoron) suffering of the noodle legs syndrom, huffing and puffing,
made it to the top. (you made a fourth of the climb..the rest is easy..says Missile, well the last fifth.. stays in memory)
Just in time recovering on the "faux plats" to finally be re-born on the downhill - how nice that was !
Wasn't I victorious in my challenging of Nascar "Grand Prix Miko" sprint ?! ; - ))

All in all, a fantastic day with trusty good friends...wifes were happy to see us again..(short ride we said...only lasted 4 hours - not counting the commute...)

During the weekend of June 14 & 15 I will be in CH...Yippie! And Dopey like to ride with his buddies, fellow Joe shredders!

Lets pick a day where most of you have time and go for a nice home ride (Jura preferred) but Boumboum land is an option too!

Looking forward riding, launching and moreover see my friends again!

See you soon Dopey!

Ride Report - Les Passerelles du lac de Joux - July 23, 2013

Not easy to get there as Paleo festival was hampering accesses...
Rode along the lake on its famous wooden passerelles (not quite BC but fun) the LaBrico in tow and usual "Grand Prix Miko" spirit. 3DC was there, closing the ride, after 2 weeks sitting on a KTM alternatively his HD....BJL played Indiana Jones on a challenging cliff trail. Now we know how to carry our bikes on a rocky steep climb.. Surprise of the day - a wild unafraid chamois herd we met. A swinging single trail brought us back to the lake shore and to a final jump & swim - how sweet.
Full Moon was with us all the way back home - late...
Participants: LaBrico, BJL, Marco, 3DC, Papy & Xavier
Stats:
24km - ridiculous 135m climb - about 2 hours
Discovery and Fun factor: 10 out of 10
Points:  (bikers please feel free to add/comment)
Usual points for invite, lead and attendance.
+0.5 to 3DC - bloody shin - tumble in cliff
-0.5  to 3DC - late and lost arrivals ...
+0.5 to 3DC - restaurant suggestion - Hotel de la Truite..a treat...
+0.5 to BJL - surpassing climbing skills and trail discovery
+0.5 to Papy - negotiations skills, restaurant's kitchen closes at 9pm..we arrived at 9.30pm..
+0.5 to Marco - improving his french language...listening patiently to us blablying...
+0.5 to LaBrico - for Michael Jackson shoes...have you seen my new shoes !!??

Ride for this week-end, Crozet (Monts Jura)

Saturday 9:00 (DH) or earlier for enduro, I plan to go to les Crozet (monts jura), we still don't know if we'll ride DH or enduro so I'll take both bikes. It is easy to climb up on the 4x4 trail and even higher than the cable car; then down there are many single tracks.
Sunday, DH session, same place, 9:00-ready, half/full day depends on the conditions and motivation of the group.

The cablecar at les Crozets will open this week-end, it is not a very crowded resort and there are many interesting single tracks (same as the Saleve) with different difficulties even under rain.

Let me know if you want to join, then I'll wait for you!

Ride Report - The BBQ ride....!!

Joe's thanks for a fanastic evening BBQ-ing and riding. Here are the statistics and highlights:
  • Distance: 36 km
  • Meters climbed: 960m
  • Train: Stopped in Arzier due to works on the bridge. Logistics chaotic and badly communicated. We expect better from the Swiss...Ride start: Arzier.
  • Riding time: 2h30....
  • Gone playing and eating: 6h00....
  • Shortest ride ever: Newbee Joe pils: 1km, 50m climb....10 minutes pedaling. Then he died!!
  • Burgers: eaten: 14, hidden under a rock: 1 and shared: 1.
  • Beers: drunk: 8, shared: 4.
  • Dessert: more then a normal human can handle after 3 burgers!
Points recommendations:
  • Boumboum: making it by feet and beating the bikers: +2
  • The South African crowd:....Where shall we start..... :-))))
  1. Honeybadger: Started the evening about ZA hunting stories but showed up with a bag-pack the size of a wallet and complained being cold: -1
  2. Honeybadger: We highly appreciated new riding buddy's! It's always good to meet people with the same passion and share the trails. Honeybadger has just gotten married but seems not to be able to stop picking up people while in bars. That where he find is new riding buddy's......I guess under the join of a beer the stories get shared and yes, beer stories go everywhere. Honeybadger's new riders input equals that of Nameless.....but unfortunately the quality is shabby. One rider made it through the ride but has never be seen again. The story goes that he couldn't walk for a week.....and the latest new input, called "Joe Pils" for the time being, made it 1k, 50m up into the ride before he and his reflector equipped 29er crashed of the side of the road. He broke a record.....but not one to be proud of.....The question? Will we see him ever again? Advice....check on newbee rider quality in sober state. Honeybadger: -1.
  3. Honeybadger: The man from the land of the Braai....the only one with 2 burgers eaten and one hidden: -0.5.
  4. Joe Pils:.....what can we say. Did he over estimated himself or was he badly informed? We are happy he got home safe: -1 point....what ever that means.
  • The George Everst award: Missile.....still needed to go bushwhacking and trail searching. There must be a way up here...!! Points: -0.25.
  • Flipping bitch award: Nascar.....2.75m in the return ride Nascar flipped a stylish bike turning OTB in front of the crowd. What a beauty! +1 point. Did I miss another one ??
  • Last minute Missile mayonaise input: A L3Mi....+0.25 points.
  • (To) late cancellation: Nameless: -1 point @ a cost of CHF 25.
Quotes of the night:
  • I gained 8 kilo's!....Boumboum.
  • I feel like a smoked sausage.....Dopey
Thanks all for a good evening. Input and comments welcome!
PS 1. For those that like to ride uphill: La Barillette race this weekend.
PS 2. Advise: confirm when you are sure you can make it. It's so easy to cancel when you are not organizing.
Eating, talking, drinking, laughing, star watching....!
The cream bar. Includeding ZA hot sauce and L3Mi...!

Burgers gone..!!
