Ride: Versoix River/Woods and Mt. Mussy
Length: 36K
Well, 20 minutes into ride, our Dear Referee decided to pull a "Labrico" and missled into bushy tree on Versoix River trail resulting in two broken fingers and quite a bit of cursing. Nascar and Dopey assisted the Missle back to No. 5's maison where he was given extremely cold ice pack for hand and arnica for pain by Madame Marvel. He was promptly taken to the hospital by Dopey while Nascar took bikes back to respective homes. Hospital trip resulted in x-rays (proudly shown later in the evening to everyone) and large cast to protect fingers until orthopedic doctor evaluates situation today. Good Luck Simon!
The rest of the group (All Cats by the way) proceeded to have excellent ride. Everyone enjoyed downhill with much whooping and cries of glee! Points proposal to be verified by Referee:
The Broken Bones Award: Missle +5 (he needs some points since he won't be riding for awhile)
The Foolhardy Award: Missle -1 Normally, you should ride AROUND the obstacle not through it!
Good Samaritan's Award: +1 to Dopey and Nascar for accompanying Missle back to base camp and hospital and giving up excellent ride for the evening (although they might have slowed us down on their 29'er's :-)
The Drunken Sailor Cursing Award : +.5 Missle I've never heard so many "F*^%$#K's in my life at one time! Impressive!
The "Me Still Hungry" Award: +.5 Missle and Dopey for showing up to dinner despite spending the evening in Hospital and eating approximately 8 -10 tacos between the two of them (I lost count).
The Early Arriver Award : +.25 to Husky and Honeybadger for arriving early (30 minutes), not getting lost and being ready to ride!
The "Pussy Whipped" Award: -.25 Honeybadger for making us stop to take call from girlfriend while telling us the call could be update from Dopey on Missle's situation.
The CAT Safety Award: +.25 to No. 5, Zulu, Husky, Honeybadger and two newbies, Aaron and Christophe for appropriately demonstrating to the Dogs how to ride safely in accordance with Caterpillar safety standards. Training will provided to injury prone riders (i.e. Missle and Labrico) in the future.
The Hostess with Mostest Award: +2 to Madame Marvel for repairing Husky's Camelback, medical assistance to Missle, excellent tacos and cheeseball (Missle finished off the cheeseball) and pandering to Missle's injury by preparing his tacos for him (since he only had one hand to eat with).
No. 5
I nominate no.5 for one additional points for fine summary as well as dopey 2 more for first aid portage yesterday as well as a return trip to the hospital today.

ReplyDeleteFine summary indeed....The Cat's survived without the Dogs chasing them...Well done!
ReplyDeleteSuper food!....Thanks Madame Marvel!
Agree with the points! ... especially for Madame Marvel and the wonderful Mexican spread she made for us last night (coronas, home made dip and all), it was just delicious.
ReplyDeleteI'd also give you an additional .25 points for running off to Carouge during your lunch hour to find those excellent tortillas chips (smile).
Enjoyed another great time with the MTB gang. Thanks to all.
Aaron the newby
In Spain I'd tell you to say you broke them because that's how tight the babe was ;)
ReplyDeleteYou do remember that we like jumping obstacles - not impacting them, right?
Wish you a speedy recovery oh fearless leader thy great missile...in the meantime don't worry we'll schedule all the rides in the Jura so we can go to your place for dinner after!
Nameless
