Ready for the race, messy kinda registration, downgraded racer bag (it is going to be interesting if this one finishes the week), bikes into the trailer and all our mess sorted.
Here is 7:30am, just at JJ Bean having my ceremonial coffee, later we have to jump in a bus and then the ferry to Van-island.
Only real downside: it is pooring down, hopefully this stops before or Day1 tomorrow. I feel home, like the Jura.

L'escargot, Tue 26th June
Labrico kicked off this ride with what felt like a high-speed chase along L'Arve - with Weasel, Marco and me in hot (no kidding, it was sunny and 28 degrees) pursuit. Despite my efforts to lead Weasel astray with a wrong turn, we soon were all winding our way up Le Petit Saleve, with excellent commentary from Labrico on the novel view of Geneva from this angle, and the depth of rain clouds hanging over the Jura.
Marco witnessed what was surely the most elegant OTB the group has seen this year.... Ouch. Weasel, freshly back from China, couldn't be held back on the descent, while the rest of us took a little longer to appreciate the flowy, winding, wooded trails of this area - thanks Labrico. We really like your back yard!
FYI: The snail reference relates to the way the trail coiled around Le Petit Saleve like the design on a snail shell; it doesn't refer to cycling speed, just for you wise-guys with smart comments....
Who: Labrico, Weasel, Marco & Tanya
Where: Le Petit Saleve, starting at Veyrier
Distance: 25km
Total climb: 630m
OTB: 1 (Tanya)

La Piste Forestière, Sat 23rd
OK, so it wasn't really my ride - Labrico and Boum Boum were the joint chefs d'equipes and I the enthusiastic tag-along. But since time is passing and precious points may evaporate, this can be my contribution. It was a gorgeous sunny ride through woods and farmland before we began to climb. We stopped to think of our Nameless friend at the similarly titled 'Chemin sans Nom', which ironically, had a signpost declaring its namelessness. The French forest service did a great job of chewing up the trails - we cursed them and felt better. Thanks for Labrico for getting the ride happening, and to Boum Boum for leading me back along by the Arve to a city filled with music (Fete de la Musique) - and to both for navigating. Ref can allocate pts as required.
No mechanicals, no dramas, no OTB - no worries! And a good warm-up for Vallee du Joux triathlon which was the next day ;)
Total distance: 31km, not including X-city commute
Total climb: 931m
Total fun: 100%

RULE CHANGE
Rides with only 2 riders now score points!!
But ONLY if you are NOT in 1'st or 2'nd place!
So....if I ride with Labrico, only Labrico scores points.
If Labrico rides with Boum Boum - they both score points.
Note: Rides MUST be posted on the blog the day before !!
Ok, enough with the rules already, PEDAL DAMN IT!!!

Ride this Week End - Eau Froide
Hey there,
I have an idea for this WE ! To do something else once, what about a ride in the mountains ?
Meteo is expected to be good saturday, sunday also.
I propose the hidden trail of the Chablais : la descente de l'Eau Froide, above Roche.
We could go in Glion or Montreux, reach the summit of Rochers de Naye (2000 m) with the train then go down to col de Chaude by very technical trails and reach the Lac de l'Hongrin (1255m) through funny 'alpage' trails. Then long 'traversée' close to the Hongrin lake (trail 50% bike, 50% walk for 20-30', then 7 km pedalling ) to reach the 'Eau Froide River' and one of the oldest dam, the 'Joux Verte' dam (17th century ?). Some historical explonations.... And then... the rest I can't explain...If you like flowy trails, with terrible grip and endless curves, then ..... FORGET about it !!!!! The trail in the Gorges de l'Eau Froide is rocky, loose, with tons of hairspins, technical, slow, endless... but funny and not dangerous. Then arrival above the Roche village at 400 m and way back to Villeneuve-Veytaux (5km flat), then nice single trails in the Veytaux area to be back in Montreux.
Duration : 1h train + 3h00 of riding. There is also a possibility to add one descent of the rochers de naye for those who need more...
Around 1800m- and 300m+, 30 km
Proposed Schedule :
8:43 Montreux (no park place) or 9:00 Glion (plenty of place), funiculaire every 15' in Montreux to get back there at the end of the ride
9:40 Arrival in Naye (2000m)
13:40 - 14:00 Back in Montreux, dinner
Optionnal : 14:43 Train to Naye, Arrival at 15:40 in Naye. last downhill with arrival around 16:45 in Montreux.
Here is my proposal, but I'm open to others.
Satudray, I should be back around 16:00, sunday no limits..
