The state of my tyre Saturday

I'll ride it tonight. Funny tubeless!!!!

Face plant.......you know it when its too late!!

Pic of the week!

Face plant....the question as always, what will hit the ground first, hands or face?
Technically if the rider manages to reach the ground with body parts other than his face we call it an Over The Bars (OTB)......

How to do a face plant:
- Ride a down hill slope....preferable < -10% or
- ditch
- Don't commit.....or ride like a chicken = keep riding pace very slow
- Apply front brake when you should not
- Refuse to bring body weight behind your seat
- Keep your head positioned above your handlebar at all times....
- Hold on to your handlebar until you face or chin is well planted in the obstacle
you are trying to ride.

Good luck!

The Dirty Dozen - belated ride report

Host: Nameless (guest starring BoumBoum as Petit Saleve Downhill Director)
Km ridden: 16 (boooooh!)
Riders: Dopey, Nascar, Zulu, No. 5, Papy, HoneyBadger, BoumBoum, Christophe, Aaron, Labrico, Nameless
Place: the 2 saleves, grand et petit, in that order.
Riding time:1.5h

The story:

25 minutes wait at the Douane for Dopey and Nascar who got caught in Geneva’s worst intersection with no stoplight nor cops.

Headed for the telepherique, filled it with bikes and Jo’s, and landed at the place where the warmup began. Rode for 20 mins at the crest then headed down taking the downhill called “la longue” (Note – Nascar’s first time on this trail – he enjoyed it), which brought us down to Monnetier. From there, up the petit saleve and down one of BoumBoum’s home-made trails, back to the douane via the train tracks trail. On the way up the Petit Saleve Aaron sadly but proudly left us since his riding safety was compromised by the taco on his front wheel.

After that, brief drive to Charbonnade at Le Bouchon, where we finished their stock of dead cow – although when we left there was still some meat on the table (we think don’t know what happened to BoumBoum). The restaurant remains closed since that day for profitability issues.

Points & fun:

+1 to Nameless for hosting

-0.5 to Nascar & Dopey for being 25 mins late

-1 to Christophe for singing the same squeaky tune all the way down the hill – fix your brakes man!

+0.5 to Aaron for tacoing his front wheel

-1 to Aaron for taking off and not joining us for the charbonnade, depriving us of the chance to make fun of the taco

+ 1.5 to BoumBoum for taking the lead on the downhill on the petit saleve and taking us to places that are not on the map…and won’t be until he decides to put them there!

-1 to Nameless for riding at the end of the pack – get in shape dude!

+ 1 to Papy for withstanding Nameless breathing down his neck while going downhill, and keeping his cool. He might be a Papy, but he knows how to work with gravity.

+1 to Dopey for the effort and quality put into the pictures. Thanks Dopey, from all of us!

+0.5 to the missing man award – Nascar on his Rip. Has anybody actually seen him? We see him on the bike at the start and end of the rides, but I don’t know about you – I never see him in the meantime! There’s a reason they call him Nascar…
