The Rich Balls Ride

I was in CT over the weekend and I persuaded my brother-in-law (Richard) to loan me his 29er and take me for a ride (he was on his roadie). We rode around the Cape Peninsual, taking in all the beautiful views... see below. ;)))))
Ride stats: 56km, 2.5 hours, 700m climbing. Fantastic all around.

PARTS WANTED

Guys,

Spring cleaning is over, I need your attention.

With my tandem association, I'm transforming and upgrading road bike tandems with curved handlebar to flat handlebar. For now 3 are in the pipeline but others will follow next years.

If by chance you or your friends or your non-friends or your f-friends or tinder what ever... have old parts such as:

Shimano shifters 8 or 9 spd
V-brake levers
V-brakes
MTB handlebar (25.4 or 31.8) with stems (50-100mm) **only in good conditions**
Magura rim brakes, spare parts or complete I manage to rebuild them... for theses vintage brakes, I'm ready to give points!

Thanks

God bless you

2nd ride: "Deliverance" ride report

I hosted the 2nd ride of the season and decided to do something different: ride where no-one has been before, which is saying something for this group of intrepid riders...
Papy, Boum Boum, Limoncello, Zorbas and I tackled the ride.
I scoped out the ride on the Sunday before, in daylight with a bit more time on my hands... All started well enough, Papy complaining about any / all the hills, Boum Boum getting impatient about hitting the trails and asking whether this was a roadie ride on his MTB...
We climbed up towards Ballaison and then round back to enter the Mont de Boisy, a little muddy, but nothing to worry us too much. On the way up we came across beautiul pack of young horses, then took a gentle single track down to a great view spot, see selfie pic below. We then took little more single down to Sciez, through Sciez, and on into "Les Grand Bois". This is where things got a little fuzzy and mucky!!! I had things covered the prevoius Sunday, but things looked quite different at night... I wouldn't say we got LOST... (others might), we just did a few more loops than planned, and we came across one tree that looked remarkably like one we had seen before...
We eventually made our way out of the "Deliverance" woods, Limoncello halucinating about banjos and squealing warthogs in the dark?!?! We made a bee-line for home as time was marching on, Boum Boum quickly running out of steam!!! He only just made it back to my place. First time i have seen him in that "bonked" condition (he ran 42km on Sunday as a preparatory run for the Geneva marathon on 3 May) - crazy guy!!!
Here are the ride stats...
Distance: 37km
Ride time: 2h30min
Elev gain: 500m
No technicals, no OTB's
Pointage allocated as follows:
+1 point for Balls hosting
+1 point each for attending riders
+1 point Balls for attempting new ride
-1/2 point Balls for finding new loop (getting lost in Grands Bois)
Again, huge fun had by all, good company, and great laughs all night long.
Here are pics of the ride.

Before...
Putting booties on was NOT easy!!!

After...

Yyeehhaaa!!! More more more!!!

First Ride....POINTS!!!

As promised....

2nd ride of season: Balls to host, Hermance special

Hey boys and girls (you know who you are...)
I propose to host the 2nd ride of season: Tues 7th April
Departure time: 18:30
Depart from my place: 731b chemin du Pont de Crevy, Veigy 74140, FRANCE
Intinerary: to be determined - you follow me for a change!
Be there or be square...
By the way, my neighbour asked if she could join us on Tues. She looks more like a cat...

Bords du Rhone ride report: 1st ride of season

It was a great start to the season! We rode a very familiar ride in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise). The hills became decents and the decent became hills! :)))
There were 6 brave soles that pitted themselves against the conditions: Labrico, Boum Boum, Limoncello, Beaujolais, Zorba and Balls.
One chicken legged Missile (who posted to host the ride) dropped out at the last minute due to what he thought was bad weather?!?! No such thing.
Trail was in good condition, some mud from rain day before, but on rain while we rode! Yeeehhhaaa!!!
Ride stats...
Distance: 27km
Ride time: 1h45min
Elev gain: 300m
No technicals - thankfully!!!
Points allocated as follows:
1 point each for attending ride
1 point for Boum Boum leading the way (in the opposite direction), replaced host
-1 for Missile/host dropping out of ride at last minute
+1/2 point for Missile joining us at dinner after ride (for ice-cream) to redeem himself
Much fun was had by all, both on and off the bike. Labrico on time: WFT?!?! Beaujolais battling to keep up with the old bucks!!! Bout Boum's big smile, and Zorba's beard?!?
Here are some pics of the fun evening out (the first of many)!!!!!!

After...
