Rebuilding your Hope Pro 2 hubs

Here are a couple of good links that help you rebuilding your Hope Pro 2 hubs:

It took me 10 minutes. Very easy and your hub is back to "new" again. The bearing that came out is: SKF 61804-2RS1.....in case you need to order.

La Dole.....A record!!??

Today I had to ride my frustrations away, it happens......or shall I say sh..t happens!

I looked outside and realized it was another nice and sunny day. One of those beautiful end of summer days. My legs were still a bit tired from the last 4 days riding but I thought what the heck.....enjoy it while you can!

I took the 14h59 train from L'Asse....greeted the train Chef and found myself throwing a leg over the bike at the Les Pralies train stop at 15h39.

Target, the top of La Dole......although I had been there 6 times already this season there was one descend at the front that I did not try......and lets no forget the superb view! While pedaling up I got cheered on by some happy hiking granny's......and some of the cows recognized me from the ride on Monday. Boooooo.....!!

Just in little less than an hour I found myself at the top of my garden.....La Dole (1.677m). At 16h35 I looked at my phone......no missed calls. Damn.....still no job! Prepared myself for the descent, waved at the picnicking crowd and put the hammer down......

A couple of minutes after 17h00 I found myself free-wheeling into my parking lot......I descended +1.100m in less than 30 minutes and made the run from the top of La Dole non-stop and without putting a foot down on the ground......I had two steaming blue brake rotors, a smile from ear to ear and felt a little less frustrated.......!!! I was a happy camper.....

Thank you my Niner RIP9 , thank you Jura......Another day in paradise!!!

I kissed my bike goodnight and went for a hot shower..........

Jeune genevois ride Best ride of the season

It was the best ride of the season according to all participants...... If true...3 points for 3DC

We start for 3DS's place ride new trail to the Asse station climb with the train to St Cergues. From there reach le col du Marchairuz passing by the Crêts de la Neuve. Best view poits in the region.

Steak sur ardoise!!!!! mmmmmm! 3 poitns for 3DC as per Iron Ass meat expert.

Going throuh monts et vaux, the crowd had a lut of fun

Best OTH of the year 3DC passing over and landing in a paddle of mud. Worth 3 points for 3DC

The downhill gettins down to Bogis-Bossey was even better than the brazilian track according to Labrico

The final in the jakuzzi did not yed end the day whic was followed by the extra meal.... Scampi salde, mussels, pizza a gogo and...... Meringues Crème de Gruyer... which according to the participants shall give 3 additional points to 3DC.

Therfore suggested points: Total 12 points for 3 DC and 2 poits for all riddes who had chance to get a nice day off that Thursday.... Labrico, Iron Ass, Zulu and 3DC for the freat day.

A beautiful evening on top of the Petit Saleve!

......so light Boumboum had to stop it from flying of the mountain.

Summary + points recommendation:

- Happy Camper award: +1 for Labrico. I have never seen someone so happy with his new bike.....I received a hundred kisses!?

- The goat award: climbing the steepest part of the Petit Saleve: +1 Dopey (in one go), +1 for Boumboum (second try with a 1x9 gearing) and +0.5 for Labrico (second try).

- Statistics will be provide by Boumboum.....my GPS is at the doc.

- We reopened a nice new steep descent.......Dopey;"who said it was unrideable"!

Next week the 5 point climb.....get prepared. See Location-Location-Location for details!

Seizing the opportunity award: +1 all riders.
Bring the right tool for the right job award: +1 for Dopey. Showing Papy how you replace brake pats.
Chicken "suite" award: +0.25 feeling sick and riding like a snail....but still smiling.
Back flip award: +1 for Zulu making a back flip of the trail.....we are lucky he is still alive!

Heads Up - Velodrome - Opens 27'th September !!

Not as much fun as fat wheels for sure, and you may think its not your thing.....

but its inside biking when the weather is crap !

And (surprisingly), its quite a lot of fun.

And it will get you fit in a hurry.....

Plus its an excuse to buy another bike !!! (been there, done that!!!)

Wednesday evenings are 'initiation' - bike shops (Hot Point for one) offer to loan bikes so you can try for free without any obligation, or even paying to use the velodrome.

For those (like me) who will go quite often, you need to buy a yearly pass - 150 CHF.

The Valais.....Your invitation for Le Portail de Fully - Saturday Oct. 9

Joe's this famous ride has now been published in two magazines and you have heard me and Nascar about it. You are invited to join and experience it yourself on Saturday October 9th.

The plan:

- Saturday 9 October.

- Leave early: 07h30 depature from Nyon.

- Take the 9h15 Dorenaz telepherique

- Reach the Tete du Portail just before noon.

- Have lunch at Relais des Chasseurs at around 13h00.

- Continue the fabulous descent and finish at around 16h30 in Dorenaz.

- Back home at 18h30

What to bring:

- Demi-tarif for the telepherique

- No hang over....you need to be sharp for this ride.

- Bike in good condition....fresh brake pats.

- Camera!

- Good legs....you still need to climb +1.200m after the telepherique

- Big balls....you will understand why.

- A smile...as usual.

What to expect:

- Some of the best views in the world.

- Sweet single track!

- Exceptional lunch

- Mastering switch backs like no other after the ride

- Single track so much you don't know where to start

- Its all sweet

- The view is astonishing!

- Take the Gornergrat Bahn and descent from 3.090 to 1.620m......

Somebody had to do it......lucky me!

12 September : End of Summer Ride and BBQ @ Missile

To end the (summer) season in style I propose an end of season ride from my place on the 12'th September followed by beer & bbq. Bring your swimsuit if you like. - the pool will still be open.

Start at 13:00, BBQ as of about 18:00 - Bring your spouse/boyfriend for the BBQ.

Fondoo Run Fixed for THURSDAY 2'nd September

Due to those that have responded we do it

Thursday night 2'nd September fondoo run #1

I need to know by Wednesday who is coming so I can organise the food & drink.

I'll take care of all and then we share the load and the cost (25-30 CHF)

Departure: 19:00 at La Givrine

Bring: 

1. A ruck sack to carry your part of the cheese, wine & bread
2. Your emergency kit if you have one
3. Bike lights - BUY some if you havent already got some
4. A petzl light for in the cabin
5. Warm clothes for the descent

The basic itnerary: Bike for about 1hr 20 minutes, stuff our faces with fondoo and wine, admire dopeys fire building skills, ride? back to the car for about midnight......
