Advice on Tires

Need some advice on tires. I sliced my back tire on something while riding some trails in Peoria. Need to get new tire and go tubeless. What good all round tire would you recommend (mud, dry conditions, rock, etc)?

P.S. Going to St. Louis this weekend and plan to ride hills in Missouri. Local St. Louis club has maps posted of good places to ride. It's not the Jura but it's still fun!

Crozet to Gex Ride Report (24Aug2010)

Host: Iron Ass

Riders: Dopey, Missile, Boom Boom, Limoncello, Honeybadger & Iron Ass

The ride started slow with a climb to approximately half way up the telecabine run. Then along the route forestiere to Gex. It was only an hour into the ride that the real mountain bike began. And I quote: "You Joe's wanna Mountain Bike or what?" (Boom Boom). Thanks to their GPS, Boom Boom and Missile guided all the Joes thru a great trail down the Jura and along the Allondon river.

The ride finished facing the beautiful scene of clear Mont Blanc (only from the Jura!) and a full moon rising rising in the sky.

Points: one (1) point for all the participants.

+ 1 point for Dopey for putting oil an Iron A's chain

+ 1 point for the wing chef and dj (aka Iron A)

- 1 point for 3DC for not joining us and having every miss out on his, not his hungry stomach, but his wine! (couldn't find the place????)

zip ties....dont leave home without one...

yesterday I installed my new wheels on my SS and went for a quick spin.....macgyver would have been proud of me....the only rear disc I had on hand was 200mm which (I only realised 10 minutes into the ride) was rubbing on the frame!!!). A zip tie in just the right place saved my left chain stay and I continued my ride !! One more point for zip ties!! Dont leave home without one !!!

Ride location: Jura, I may try a new route at the Mont Tendre

During: 3-4 hours. Easy pace. Bring food and water.....!!

After ride: BBQ at Dopeys place.

Eaters: Riders + Husky

Ride: 30km, 850m ascending, 14 km/h average speed.

Trails: Boumboum land.....!!!

+1 for Dopey. Bring a inner tube for Zulu and showing him how to put it on. When you buy a 29" bike.....buy the proper spares. Do we have to teach you everything?
